The Birth Story of Baby S | Burdett Birth Center, Troy, New York | Troy Birth Photographer
The birth of your child is one of the most memorable events in your lifetime, but this little girl decided to set herself apart.
I checked in with this mom the day before her due date. All seemed quiet, with no signs of labor coming anytime soon. Her due date came and it was only a few hours later that I received a call at 4am from dad telling me that they were headed to the hospital because mom was having heavy, consistent contractions.
I arrived at the hospital and sent dad a text telling him I was here as I walked into the Burdett Birth Center in Troy, New York. I waited by the elevator door, just outside the Birthing Center doors when I received a text from dad telling me they were still about 20 minutes away. I walked back downstairs to grab some water from my jeep thinking about all of the fond memories I had of my own births at Burdett. I walked back upstairs getting a little nervous with how much time was ticking by. I looked at the clock and it was after 20 minutes since dad had text me. Within two minutes after checking my phone, I received a text from dad with this message and image:
I was floored! Talk about a wild birth! To make this birth even MORE incredible and exciting, this was a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) for mom, and their older daughter was in the car with them to watch the birth of her brand new baby sister. Two state troopers arrived to escort mom to the grass while baby S was on her own way out, and dad caught her.
Within a few minutes from a few messages back and forth from dad, they all arrived at Burdett Birth Center where I photographed the first few moments of this special girl and special moments for this now family of four.
